The Drop: Hey Day Buddina

Paper mâché recently caught up with James Harcourt from Hey Day Buddina to explore his top five favourite wines. Originally from Melbourne and now living his dream in Buddina, James has a way of creating the perfect Friday evening vibe.

No matter your mood, there is a wine to match it.

Describing his café and bar by night as a relaxed living room to simply enjoy with your friends, James shared a selection of bottles that set the tone, complement meals, or carry you through a long afternoon with friends. Recently, Hey Day hosted a one night Autumn Harvest Dinner in collaboration with Sara from Tuckshop Catering, celebrating six seasonal courses paired with carefully matched wines. It was an intimate, thoughtful evening full of flavour and warmth and we cannot wait to see what experience comes next.

James walks us through his top five wine picks. From sparkling bubbles like a Pét Nat to the layered generosity of a Chardonnay and the easy warmth of a Gamay, each bottle tells a story and reflects the welcoming, relaxed vibe of the venue. It is a place to linger, share stories over a glass of wine, and enjoy the kind of moments that make Friday evenings feel a little endless.
